On April 27, 1989, 33-year-old Douglas E. Cundiff was with his crewmates aboard the F/V Legend, a 42-foot fiberglass fishing vessel, in the turbulent waters of southwest Cook Inlet, Alaska. The men, all from Homer, were engaged in the demanding work that defines the lives of Alaskan fishermen. Tragically, the vessel overturned and sank near Cape Douglas.
