On March 18, 1999, 20-year-old Aaron R. Miller-Moylan was working as a crewman aboard the F/V Lin J, a 96-foot crab fishing vessel, in the treacherous waters of the Bering Sea. The vessel, carrying a heavy cargo of 55,000 pounds of snow crab, found itself battling severe winter conditions approximately eight miles northwest of St. Paul Island, Alaska.
