In the quiet early morning hours of March 26, 2024, 61-year-old Cristina Ase, a dedicated nurse, left her home in Vancouver, Washington, for her job in West Linn, Oregon. She was last heard from at approximately 5:30 a.m. that morning. Concern mounted when she failed to arrive at the Rose Linn Care Center, where she was the nursing director. This was highly uncharacteristic of Cristina, who was known for her reliability and commitment to her patients. Both her husband and her concerned coworkers reported her missing to the Vancouver Police Department later that day. The initial investigation revealed that after leaving her residence, Cristina may have traveled into Oregon. The days following Cristina's disappearance brought a series of perplexing and troubling discoveries. On March 27, her dark grey 2013 Toyota Rav4 was found in Vancouver, not far from her apartment. A search warrant later revealed that the vehicle's interior had a "powdery white residue like a cleaning agent coating several surfaces". This discovery, coupled with the unusual circumstances of her absence, led investigators to deem her disappearance as suspicious and highly unusual for her regular pattern of behavior. Cell phone data provided a partial timeline of her movements on the morning she vanished, showing that she drove from her home in Vancouver to Southeast Portland, where she spent several hours in the vicinity of Glenwood Park. Her phone was last pinged near Southeast Flavel Street and Southeast 92nd Avenue around 10 a.m. before it was turned off. As the investigation deepened, it came to light that in the weeks leading up to her disappearance, Cristina may have misled her family and employer about her whereabouts on a few occasions. On the day she went missing, she had texted her boss to say she would be arriving an hour later than her usual start time. Friends and colleagues, who considered her family, have been devastated by her absence, describing her as the "glue" that held their workplace together. They, along with law enforcement, have made public appeals for any information that could lead to her whereabouts. The investigation into Cristina Ase's disappearance is a collaborative effort involving the Vancouver Police Department, Portland Police Bureau, West Linn Police Department, and the FBI, as she crossed state lines. The case remains an active and ongoing investigation, with authorities believing her sudden disappearance may be related to a serious crime or a medical emergency. Her family, friends, and community continue to hold out hope for her safe return, anxiously awaiting any news that might bring clarity to this baffling case.
