On a warm Saturday afternoon, June 30, 1979, 16-year-old Robert Keck left his home in Upper Saucon Township, Pennsylvania, with plans to visit his girlfriend. He was last seen at approximately 1:00 p.m. walking along Coopersburg Road, headed towards the town of Coopersburg, a couple of miles from his residence. Robert, a Caucasian male with blond hair and hazel eyes, stood at 5 feet 7 inches and weighed around 140 pounds. He was wearing a blue t-shirt with "Beach Bum" printed on it, cut-off jeans, and tan shoes with crepe soles. A silver chain with a white cross hung around his neck. Robert also had a distinctive mole on the right side of his face and a small scar on his right cheek below his eye. Before leaving, he mentioned to his mother that he expected to get a ride from someone later in the day, as he did not have a driver's license. He never arrived at his girlfriend's house and has not been seen or heard from since. Robert's family was immediately concerned when he didn't return home that evening, as it was out of character for him to stay out late without contacting them. His parents' worry grew after they learned he never made it to his girlfriend's house. They promptly reported him missing to the Upper Saucon Township Police Department. The family knew Robert was not the type to run away; he had a good relationship with them, was an average student, and had no apparent troubles in his life. He was described as a somewhat timid person, which made his voluntary disappearance seem even more unlikely to his loved ones. In the initial stages of the investigation, police issued a missing person bulletin, but there was a prevailing belief that he might have been a runaway. His family, however, remained steadfast in their conviction that something unfortunate had happened to him. Over the years, the investigation into Robert Keck's disappearance has seen periods of activity and long stretches of silence. In July 1980, the Pennsylvania State Police joined the investigation to provide additional resources. Despite their involvement, no conclusive evidence emerged to suggest whether Robert left on his own or was a victim of foul play. The case eventually went cold, with all leads exhausted by 1987. A significant development occurred in 2014 when a woman came forward claiming she and a friend were involved in his disappearance and knew the location of his remains. This led to searches of a wooded property in Berks County, but these efforts proved fruitless, and no charges were ever filed. The fate of Robert Keck remains unknown, and his case is classified as a possible non-family abduction, a lingering mystery that has haunted his family and community for decades.
