In the quiet community of Reading, Pennsylvania, a family's life was irrevocably altered on the evening of February 13, 2025. Dwane Mitchell Scott, a 59-year-old husband, father of five, and grandfather, was last seen at a family member's home around 7:00 p.m. in the 900 block of Summit Chase Drive. He mentioned he was going to a local bar, a seemingly routine outing. There was a possible but unconfirmed sighting of him later that evening, between 8:00 and 9:00 p.m., at a bar and restaurant named Maria's on Penn Street. Tragically, he never returned home and has not been seen or heard from since, a particularly distressing situation as he had plans with his family the very next day to celebrate his birthday. Dwane is described as a Black male, standing at 5'10" and weighing around 160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. When he was last seen, he was wearing a distinctive gray 3/4 length winter coat with faux fur. He also has several identifying marks, including a large surgical scar on his abdomen from his sternum to his belly button and a caterpillar-shaped scar on his right wrist. It was also noted that both of his ears are pierced, but he was only wearing one earring on the day he disappeared due to some irritation. The urgency of the search for Dwane Scott is significantly heightened by his serious medical conditions. He suffers from dementia, has a history of strokes, and has been diagnosed with brain matter disease and stage 4 kidney disease. Additionally, he is an insulin-dependent diabetic who requires insulin four times a day and takes medication twice daily to control seizures. These health issues necessitate 24-hour supervision, and he is known to have poor balance, hearing, and vision, which can lead to confusion. Compounding the family's worry is the fact that Dwane left his home without his wallet or his cell phone, leaving him with no easy way to contact anyone for help or to be identified. His family, including his wife Kimberly, their five children, and numerous grandchildren, are deeply concerned for his well-being, as he is in desperate need of his life-sustaining medications. In the days and weeks following his disappearance, Dwane's family has been relentless in their efforts to find him. They have tirelessly driven all over the city, searching homeless camps and any other conceivable location where he might be. His wife, Kimberly Scott, has been a driving force, organizing search parties and working to keep his story in the public eye. The Reading Police Department is investigating his disappearance and has asked for the public's assistance, urging anyone with information to contact them. On February 15, 2025, the Pennsylvania State Police issued a Missing Person Endangered Advisory for Dwane, highlighting his vulnerability and the potential for him to be at special risk of harm or injury. The case of Dwane Scott's disappearance is a heart-wrenching story of a beloved family man who vanished without a trace, leaving behind a family desperate for answers and his safe return. The combination of his significant health problems and the lack of any contact or credible sightings creates a deeply troubling situation that continues to be an active and urgent investigation.
