In the early morning hours of January 29, 1999, 45-year-old Diane Louise Wolf completed her 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. shift at Hanover Foods in Hanover, Pennsylvania, a place where she had worked for two decades. After leaving her job, she made a brief stop at her Conewago Township home to drop off her lunchbox. A short time later, at approximately 7:33 a.m., she was captured on a bank's surveillance camera depositing $300 at a drive-through ATM. This transaction would be the last confirmed sighting of Diane. Concern began to mount when she failed to show up for her shift that evening, an act that was highly uncharacteristic for the reliable employee who had never before missed work without notice. The following day, after she remained out of contact, she was reported missing. The investigation into Diane's disappearance began when her husband notified the authorities. Two days after she was last seen, her turquoise 1994 Pontiac Grand Prix was discovered locked and abandoned in the parking lot of a Weis Market, where her sister was employed. The vehicle was covered in dust, suggesting it might have been driven on a dirt road, and it was parked in a remote part of the lot, which was contrary to Diane's usual habit of finding the closest possible space. Inside the car, investigators found her cell phone, but her purse was missing and has never been located. The discovery of her car, miles from her home, deepened the mystery and heightened the fears of her loved ones.
