On a spring afternoon in March of 1989, fifteen-year-old Tonetta Carlisle was walking home from school in Chattanooga, Tennessee, a journey she had made many times before. It was March 16th, and Tonetta, a freshman at City High School, was just a short distance from her family's residence on Hamilton Avenue.
