On March 6, 1981, 37-year-old Gloria Korzon was seen for the last time as she left her job at an electronics plant in Horsham, Pennsylvania. She was expected to return to the home she shared with her husband, William Korzon, in nearby Warrington, but she never arrived. In the weeks and months that followed, Gloria�s family grew increasingly concerned. Her brother, Ralph Kidder, had last spoken to her in February to inform her of their mother's hospitalization. Subsequent attempts by her father to reach her by phone were unsuccessful; he would leave messages that were never returned. A sense of dread began to settle over the family, which was amplified in May of that year when Gloria's mother received a Mother's Day card signed "Gloria Korzon." The handwriting was not Gloria's, and she never used her full name when corresponding with family, deepening the mystery and fear surrounding her sudden silence. All of her personal belongings, including her car, her beloved dog, identification, and credit cards, were left behind at her home. The investigation into Gloria�s disappearance soon revealed a deeply troubled and violent marriage. Gloria and William Korzon�s relationship, which began with their marriage in 1967, was marred by frequent and severe domestic abuse. Law enforcement had been called to their residence on at least eight occasions between 1976 and 1980 for domestic disturbances. Gloria had twice sought protection orders against her husband, alleging he had beaten her severely enough to break bones, though she withdrew the complaints before they went to court. Just a month before she vanished, Gloria entrusted her stepfather with a sealed letter, instructing him to open it only if something happened to her. After her disappearance, her stepfather opened the three-page letter, which contained a chilling list of assaults she claimed to have endured at the hands of her husband. When police initially questioned William, he claimed Gloria had left to visit an aunt in Florida, a story that quickly unraveled when her actual aunt confirmed she had not seen or heard from Gloria in months. For decades, Gloria�s case remained a painful, unsolved mystery for her loved ones, and she was declared legally dead in 1997. The Warrington Township Police Department, however, did not give up. In 2016, a detective reopened the cold case, taking a fresh look at the evidence. This renewed effort, with the help of the Bucks County District Attorney's Office and an investigating grand jury, ultimately led to a breakthrough. In April 2019, nearly four decades after Gloria was last seen, William Korzon was arrested and charged with her murder. In December 2019, then 76 years old, William Korzon pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter. He confessed in court that on the day of her disappearance, they had a violent argument. He claimed Gloria fired his handgun at him and missed, and in response, he took the gun from her and shot her in the head. He then admitted to placing her body in a trash can and dumping it into the Delaware River. Gloria's remains have never been recovered. William Korzon was sentenced to seven and a half to fifteen years in prison, bringing a long-awaited, albeit somber, conclusion to a case that began with a woman's hopeful last day at work and ended in a hidden tragedy.
