Anna Bronislawa Maciejewska, a 43-year-old mother and actuary, vanished from her home in Malvern, Pennsylvania, around March 30, 2017. A Polish native who had lived in the United States for about two decades, Anna was described as a kindhearted and lovable mother. She was in regular contact with her family in Poland, but the last time anyone heard her voice was on March 28, 2017. In the days that followed, communications from her phone seemed unusual to her family. A birthday text sent to her father was written in what her family called "noticeably bad Polish," and a planned trip to Poland to celebrate was abruptly canceled. Her husband, Allen Gould, initially told her concerned mother that Anna was sick and would call back. However, he later claimed she left for work in a rush on April 10 and never returned. Her employer reported her missing on April 11 after she failed to show up for her job at Voya Financial. Allen Gould reported her missing the following day. The investigation into Anna's disappearance began, revealing unsettling details. Investigators found that her wallet, passport, and phone had all been left at her home. On May 8, 2017, her navy blue Audi A4 was discovered abandoned in an overflow parking lot at the Charlestown Meadows Development, a private community a few miles from her residence. Friends noted it was unusual for her to back her car into a parking space, and the driver's seat was pushed back much farther than would be comfortable for her 5'4" frame. As police delved deeper, they learned Anna was unhappy in her marriage, had been attending "Divorce 101" classes, and was taking steps to formally end her relationship with Gould. He reportedly became uncooperative with the investigation within a month of her disappearance, hiring a criminal defense attorney. His lack of participation in searches and social media campaigns to find his wife also raised concerns among her friends and family. For years, the case grew cold, though investigators came to believe Anna was a victim of a homicide. By 2018, her husband was officially named a person of interest. The case remained without resolution, leaving her family, especially her aging parents in Poland, in a state of painful uncertainty. Then, in May 2025, a major breakthrough occurred when Allen Gould was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and other offenses related to her death. Prosecutors assert that Gould killed his wife around March 29, 2017, and then used her phone to send messages to impersonate her and conceal the crime. Despite the absence of her remains, authorities moved forward with the case, built on what they described as a totality of circumstantial evidence. The case represents a long and difficult journey for Anna's loved ones, who continue to seek final answers and justice for the woman they lost.
