In the coastal town of Lincoln City, Oregon, 60-year-old Lynette Kay Propst was navigating a period of profound transition in February of 2017. Recently widowed, she was grappling with depression while temporarily residing with her adult son, with plans to relocate to Arizona. The last confirmed contact with Lynette was on February 19, 2017. At the time of her disappearance, she was described as a Caucasian female, standing 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing between 113 and 120 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. A distinguishing feature noted by those who knew her was a four-inch scar on her back. Two days after she was last heard from, on February 21, concern for her welfare grew, and she was officially reported missing to the Lincoln City police. That same day, her 2002 Nissan Pathfinder was discovered abandoned at Rocky Creek State Park, a scenic viewpoint along the Oregon coast. Inside the vehicle, a handwritten note was found, adding a layer of complexity to her sudden disappearance. One account describes the note as simply asking someone to call her adult son, while another states the note claimed the vehicle had broken down and the driver would return for it soon. The discovery of Lynette's vehicle prompted an immediate and thorough search of the rugged coastal area. The Lincoln County Sheriff's deputies, Depoe Bay Firefighters, and the U.S. Coast Guard all took part in the effort to find her. Despite their extensive search of the park and its surroundings, no trace of Lynette was found. The circumstances of her disappearance, including her recent widowhood and reported depression, combined with the discovery of her abandoned car and the ambiguous note, have left her family and investigators with many unanswered questions. The Oregon State Police are asking for anyone with information that may lead to locating Lynette or any potential witnesses to come forward. Her case remains an active and unresolved missing person investigation.
