Gary Allen Robbins (born 1935 in Beaver County, Pennsylvania) was a suspected multi?state serial killer active during the 1980s. He posed as a door?to?door insurance salesman to gain access to women living in homes advertised for sale . His criminal activity spanned at least four states�Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, and Maryland�between approximately 1981 and 1988 . Robbins died by suicide following a shoot?out with Pennsylvania authorities on April�14,�1988 .
Modus Operandi
Robbins typically introduced himself as a traveling salesman to gain trust and entry. Once inside, his victims were often bound and gagged with a scarf, assaulted, and in most cases shot. Some showed signs of torture, indicating sadistic motivations .
Confirmed Victims
- Christine Campbell � abducted and murdered in Jefferson County, Ohio, in 1987; investigators linked Robbins to her death .
- Unidentified Butler County Victim � abducted and sexually assaulted in Butler County, Pennsylvania; her identity remains undisclosed .
