On a Sunday evening in Washington, D.C., the life of 22-year-old Vashawn Jones, a Black male, was cut short by gunfire. The incident occurred on September 24, 2023, at approximately 8:31 p.m. in the 4400 block of 3rd Street in the Southeast quadrant of the city.
