Derrick Combs, a 39-year-old Black man from Dover, Delaware, was killed late on August 28, 2018, on the grounds of Towne Point Elementary School at 629 Buckson Drive. At approximately 9:58 p.m., Dover police officers were dispatched after reports of gunfire and a person lying on the ground. They found Combs suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. No students were present because the shooting occurred after school hours.
