In the spring of 2012, a burst of gunfire in South Philadelphia tragically cut short the life of 24-year-old Adib Smith. A resident of Earp Street in the King Village neighborhood, Smith was caught in a hail of bullets on a Tuesday night in May. He was one of four people struck in the violent outburst, which also wounded a 22-year-old man, a pregnant woman, and her 31-year-old brother.
