On a late summer evening in Alaska, 68-year-old Daniel Hass, a visitor from Algoma, Wisconsin, found himself in a perilous situation on the Kenai River. It was August 27, 2018, when the boat he was in, occupied by two other men from his hometown, overturned near the Moose Meadows area.
