In the coastal city of Coos Bay, Oregon, 58-year-old Gary Michael Adams vanished on February 17, 2021. At the time of his disappearance, Adams, a man who had previously experienced homelessness, was living in a camp trailer at an RV park. In the days leading up to when he went missing, those who knew him described him as acting confused. On the day he was last seen, Adams had been transported to Bay Area Hospital. He was later discharged that same evening. The last confirmed sighting of Gary Adams was at approximately 11:35 p.m., when he was seen walking away from the hospital. He was heading west on Thompson Road, near the entrance to the hospital's lower parking lot. Adams did not own a vehicle, and his trailer remained at the RV park. Gary is a white male with brown hair and hazel eyes, standing at 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing around 180 pounds. He has a tattoo of a skull and crossbones on his right arm and may also have a tattoo of a gravestone, a cross, and the name 'Sandy' on his right shoulder. When he was last seen, he was wearing a brown jacket, black pants, dark-colored work boots, and a green or grey ball cap. The Coos Bay Police Department was notified of his disappearance and launched an investigation. Authorities noted that Adams had connections to the homeless community in the Empire district of Coos Bay and checked with centers that serve this population, but no one had seen or heard from him. The investigation into Gary Adams's disappearance remains open, and at the time it was initiated, law enforcement did not consider the case to be suspicious. His case has been entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) as case number MP79465. Despite the passage of time, there has been little to no new information released to the public regarding his whereabouts. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance are concerning, given his reported state of confusion and the fact that he was on foot late at night after being discharged from the hospital. The overview of the case highlights a vulnerable individual who seemingly vanished without a trace, leaving behind his only known residence and possessions. His family and friends continue to await answers.
