In the autumn of 2021, concern grew for 42-year-old Rocco Joseph Rinella after his family was unable to reach him. The last contact they had was a telephone conversation on November 1, 2021, during which he reportedly seemed to be in emotional distress. Two days later, his vehicle was found abandoned and still running at the junction of State Routes 156 and 158, near the Mount Charleston area northwest of Las Vegas.
