In the summer of 2023, 39-year-old Amber Marie Arnett, a female from Lansing, Michigan, found her life at a difficult crossroads. After losing her job and home as a live-in caretaker at an adult foster care facility, she was facing legal troubles with a court date looming in July. Feeling unsafe in her current living situation with friends, Amber reached out to her mother, Marty, in late June to ask if she could stay with her. Her mother, who was out of town, agreed and expected to hear from her daughter upon her return to Lansing. Amber was last seen on June 25, 2023, at a Dollar Tree store on South Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Lansing. She was wearing a black tank top with white writing on the front, blue jeans, and black tennis shoes. That evening, she reportedly went to visit a friend in a neighborhood near her mother's home. A message sent from Amber's Facebook account to the friend indicated she had arrived, stating, "Hey, I'm at the gate. Come and let me in." That was the last known communication from her. Days turned into weeks with no word from Amber. Her mother, knowing her daughter's active social media presence, grew increasingly worried as her calls and messages went unanswered. After friends and family confirmed they also had not heard from her, Marty reported her daughter missing to the Lansing Police Department. As her loved ones began their own search for answers, they uncovered a disturbing narrative suggesting that in the time leading up to her disappearance, some in her circle suspected she might be cooperating with law enforcement on other criminal matters. There were rumors that Amber may have witnessed a serious crime and was planning to trade information for a lighter sentence on her own pending charges. The investigation into Amber's disappearance has been fraught with challenges and few concrete leads. Despite her mother's persistent efforts to piece together her daughter's last known movements, what happened to Amber after she sent that final message remains a mystery. The house she was visiting on the night she vanished was later raided by police, but the search yielded no clues as to her whereabouts. Amber is described as a white female with brown hair, standing between 5'4" and 5'7" and weighing between 150 and 160 pounds. She has several distinct tattoos, including flowers with the words "Beautiful Disaster" on her upper thigh and the letters "MER" with a heart on the inside of her wrist. She also has a piercing and a scar on the right side of her upper lip, as well as two linear scars on her abdomen and one on her right hip. The official investigation by the Lansing Police Department remains open, and her family continues to hope for answers in the case of their missing loved one.
