In the summer of 1999, fifteen-year-old Trevell "Nuke" Lamar Henley vanished from his Columbus, Ohio neighborhood. He was last seen on July 2, 1999, walking towards the home of a nineteen-year-old acquaintance, Dalin Green. Trevell, who was a student at Medina Middle School and enjoyed sports and reading, had no juvenile record. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a black, white, and gray shirt, light gray sweatpants, and white Nike sneakers. Distinguishing features included a scar on his lower lip and another on the top of his head. A significant detail of his appearance at the time was a cast on his left hand, the result of a recent injury. The circumstances leading up to Trevell's disappearance are unsettling. Reports indicate that Trevell had shown an interest in joining a gang called the Bloodstone Villains, of which Dalin Green was a member. There is speculation that Trevell may have been subjected to a severe beating as part of an initiation. Just days before he went missing, on June 28, Trevell's grandmother reported to the police that her grandson had been shot in the hand by an unknown person. Green had driven Trevell and his grandmother to the hospital for treatment. However, Trevell later reportedly admitted to his grandmother that he had accidentally shot himself at Green's house. The connection between this incident and his subsequent disappearance remains unclear. Following Trevell's grandmother reporting him missing on July 3, 1999, the investigation quickly focused on Dalin Green. A search of Green's residence on Republic Avenue uncovered disturbing evidence suggesting a homicide had occurred. Investigators found bloodstains, spent bullets and shell casings, handguns, and, significantly, Trevell's personal identification. A section of the living room carpet had also been cut out. Due to this evidence and Green's history of violent offenses, he was named the primary suspect. Despite the strong circumstantial evidence, Dalin Green has never been charged in connection with Trevell's disappearance. Tragically, Trevell's family has endured further loss; his younger brother, Tywan, was murdered in 2009. In obituaries for his brother and father, Trevell was listed as having preceded them in death. The case of Trevell Henley's disappearance remains unsolved, a lingering source of pain and unanswered questions for his family and community.
