A weekend getaway to celebrate a birthday took a harrowing turn, leaving a family with unanswered questions and a void that has lasted for years. Tyler Davis, a 29-year-old husband and father from Wilmington, Ohio, traveled with his wife, Brittany, to Columbus on February 23, 2019. The couple planned to enjoy a rare night away at the Hilton Hotel at Easton Town Center, a bustling shopping and entertainment complex. They met up with a friend who lived locally and spent the evening visiting various bars and restaurants. The night of celebration, however, would end in a perplexing mystery that continues to baffle investigators and loved ones alike. In the early morning hours of February 24, the couple and their friend took an Uber back to the Hilton. Upon arrival around 3:00 a.m., Tyler, who had fallen asleep during the ride, awoke disoriented and agitated. He reportedly did not recognize the hotel and insisted they were in the wrong location. Despite his wife's attempts to reassure him, Tyler walked away from the hotel entrance. His friend followed him while Brittany went inside to their room to charge her phone. Surveillance footage captured Tyler walking away from the Hilton, marking the last time he was seen on camera. What followed was a series of confusing phone calls that only deepened the mystery. At 3:37 a.m., Tyler called Brittany, telling her he was just walking around the block and would be back soon. Later, around 4:10 a.m., he called again, sounding confused and stating he was in the woods but could see the hotel and would be there in five minutes. A final call from his phone to hers resulted in only a few seconds of silence before the line went dead. All subsequent attempts to reach him went straight to voicemail. As the hours passed with no sign of Tyler, concern turned to panic. Brittany, after searching the area with a friend and contacting local hospitals and jails, reported her husband missing to the Columbus Police Department around 10:30 a.m. The initial police response was delayed, a factor later acknowledged as a mistake, as they initially suspected he may have left voluntarily after an argument. Subsequent investigation using digital forensics tracked Tyler's phone movements, showing he was in the vicinity of the Huntington Bank complex and the Abbott Foods parking lot. Data indicated he had used his phone to ask for directions back to the hotel, suggesting an intention to return. Extensive searches of the area, including a nearby swamp, were conducted by law enforcement, friends, and family, but yielded no clues to his whereabouts. The case grew cold, and in December 2021, nearly three years after he vanished, a Clinton County court declared Tyler Davis legally deceased. Despite this legal declaration, his disappearance remains an open and perplexing investigation, leaving his family, including a young son who was just a toddler at the time, without answers. The circumstances of his disappearance are unclear, and authorities have stated they do not believe he went missing intentionally.
