In the late spring of 1985, a sense of unease settled over the community of Beech Creek, Pennsylvania. On June 12th, 48-year-old George Patrick Kelley, a male resident of the area, informed his father he was heading out for a day of fishing, a common pastime in the serene landscapes of Clinton County. Distinctive marks on his body included scars on his chest from a previous bypass surgery, scars on both of his thighs, and a mole on his face. When he left his father's home, he drove off in a blue and white sedan, setting out for a peaceful day that would instead mark the beginning of a long and sorrowful mystery. The hours turned into a day, and George Kelley did not return. The initial concern of his family grew into a palpable fear, and on June 13, 1985, he was officially reported as a missing person to the Pennsylvania State Police. The investigation began immediately, and a significant piece of evidence was discovered that very same day in Beech Creek Township. His vehicle, a blue and white Chevrolet or General Motors sedan with an Ohio license plate, was found abandoned. The discovery of the car without any sign of George was a deeply troubling development, suggesting that his disappearance was not by choice and that something had gone wrong after he left his father's residence.
