In the summer of 1974, Francis Loretta Heath, a 45-year-old woman also known by her married name, Wells, embarked on a journey from which she would never return. On August 13th, she boarded a Trailways bus in Crossett, Arkansas, with plans to visit family in El Paso, Texas. She was expected to make the return trip the following Sunday.
