On December 2, 2016, 28-year-old Danielle Stislicki vanished after leaving her job at MetLife in Southfield, Michigan. She had made plans to have dinner with a friend that evening but never arrived. The last communication she had was a text to her friend indicating she was going to stop at her apartment first. The following day, concern grew when she failed to show up for their plans, and her friend contacted her parents. Stislicki's 2015 black Jeep Renegade was discovered parked near her apartment at the Independence Green Apartments in Farmington Hills. Inside the locked vehicle were her purse and wallet, but her cell phone and keys were missing. There were no immediate signs of a struggle at her apartment or in her vehicle. The investigation into Danielle Stislicki's disappearance quickly led law enforcement to suspect foul play. Within weeks of her going missing, police announced they believed she was the victim of a crime. A former security guard at her workplace, Floyd Galloway Jr., was identified as a person of interest early in the investigation. Witnesses reported seeing Stislicki speaking with Galloway in the office parking lot on the day she disappeared. One witness later testified to seeing Galloway in the passenger seat of Stislicki's Jeep as they were leaving the parking lot. Investigators learned that Galloway, who had initially told police he worked until 11 p.m. that night, had actually called off for a "doctor's appointment". Searches of Galloway's home in Berkley yielded evidence, including the removal of a mattress and floorboards. The case took a significant turn when Galloway was arrested in June 2017 in connection with the attempted sexual assault of a jogger in Hines Park, which occurred a few months before Stislicki's disappearance. He eventually pleaded guilty to kidnapping and assault in that case and was sentenced to 16 to 35 years in prison. In March 2019, Floyd Galloway Jr. was charged with the first-degree premeditated murder of Danielle Stislicki. Despite extensive searches, her body has never been found. The legal proceedings against Galloway have been lengthy, marked by numerous delays and disputes over evidence. Some key pieces of evidence, including Stislicki's Fitbit and keys, were suppressed by a judge. Despite these challenges, the prosecution has moved forward with the case against Galloway, with a trial scheduled for February 2026. The disappearance of Danielle Stislicki has had a profound impact on her family and the community, who have waited years for answers and a sense of closure. The case is an overview of a determined investigation to bring justice for a young woman who vanished, leaving behind a family searching for answers and the hope of one day bringing her home to rest.
