In the late summer of 2007, a 90-year-old woman named Mary Rose Mikulak seemingly vanished from her new home. She had recently relocated from New Jersey to Plains Township, Pennsylvania, moving into the East Mountain Ridge Mobile Home Park with her granddaughter, Linasheri D'Onofrio, and Linasheri's severely disabled son, Shain. Mary was last seen around September 1, 2007, and shortly after settling into their new residence, she disappeared without a trace, leaving behind a mystery that would only deepen with time. For years, her absence went largely unnoticed by the wider community, a quiet disappearance that left her relatives in New Jersey increasingly worried. Concern for Mary's well-being prompted her family in New Jersey to hire a private investigator in 2011, but the search yielded no answers about her whereabouts. The case grew more unsettling in 2014 when Linasheri was accused of stealing personal checks from a neighbor she was house-sitting for. The stolen checks had been made out to Mary Mikulak and deposited into a joint bank account held by both Mary and Linasheri. When authorities attempted to locate Mary as part of their investigation into the fraud, they were unable to find her, raising further questions about her safety and what might have happened to her after she moved to Pennsylvania. The full gravity of the situation came to light in February 2018, following a shed fire that was determined to be arson behind Linasheri's mobile home. Inside the burned structure, investigators discovered human remains. Initially, it was thought they might belong to Mary, but DNA testing later confirmed the remains were those of her great-grandson, Shain. It was only through this grim discovery that law enforcement realized Mary Mikulak was officially a missing person. Despite the passage of many years, no evidence of her whereabouts has ever surfaced, and no death records exist in her name. Investigators believe she is likely deceased, but without her remains, her case remains an open and unresolved disappearance.
