On March 28, 2010, 46-year-old Angel Arriaga Gutierrez, a male from Nogales, Arizona, went missing under troubling circumstances. His last known contact was with family members after he had been detained and subsequently released by Mexican police in Altar, Sonora. Following his release, Gutierrez informed his family of his intention to cross into the United States, heading for an unspecified destination in Texas. This was not his first attempt to cross the border; he had done so multiple times in the past. The details surrounding his interactions with Mexican authorities and his subsequent plans remain limited, leaving his family with many unanswered questions. The circumstances of Gutierrez's disappearance are complex. Having been in the custody of Mexican police just prior to his last communication, a cloud of uncertainty hangs over the events that followed his release.
