In the summer of 2007, a young man named Gabriel Callejas Guerrero, aged 25, vanished under perplexing circumstances. Originally from Hidalgo, Mexico, Gabriel had made his way to the United States in 2004, seeking opportunities and a new life. For three years, he established a life for himself, working and residing in the California cities of San Jose and Oakland. However, his time in the U.S. came to an abrupt end on July 11, 2007, when he was deported by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials. His last known location was Nogales, Arizona, a city on the border with Mexico. From that point forward, his trail went cold, leaving his family with unanswered questions and growing concern. Gabriel is described as a Hispanic male with black hair and brown eyes. At the time of his disappearance, he stood between 5'3" and 5'6" tall and weighed between 175 and 200 pounds. He has several distinguishing physical features that could aid in his identification. These include a lump on the back of his head and a large mole on his back. Additionally, he has a tattoo of the name "CALLEJAS" on his right arm. When he was last seen, his head was shaved, and he had no facial hair. The circumstances surrounding Gabriel's disappearance are particularly troubling. After his deportation, it appears he made no further documented attempts to cross the border back into the United States. As of May 2021, there were no records of any encounters with him at the border, deepening the mystery of his whereabouts. The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office is the investigating agency for his case, which was created in their system years later on October 26, 2020. Despite the passage of time, the case remains an active investigation, a testament to the enduring hope of finding answers and bringing Gabriel home. The lack of any contact or sightings since his deportation in 2007 has left a void in the lives of those who knew him, creating a heart-wrenching overview of a life interrupted and a family left to wonder what became of their loved one.
