On February 26, 2026, the body of Jose Vargas was discovered in an encampment on an embankment above the northbound 110 freeway, just south of the Figueroa Tunnel in Los Angeles, California. The circumstances of his death remain a mystery, as his body was found unresponsive in a makeshift shelter, prompting a call to emergency services.
