On the afternoon of April 20, 2026, a maintenance worker in a Los Angeles apartment building detected a foul odor while walking through the hallways. Concerned, the worker began knocking on doors in search of the source. When they arrived at the door of Curtis Lee Armstrong, they found a note affixed to it, yet received no response after several attempts to make contact. Upon finding the door unlocked, the worker entered the residence and discovered Armstrong lying unresponsive on the floor.
