Mass Murderer Doug Williams (2003)
Background and Context
Douglas Paul Williams was a 48-year-old assembly-line worker at the Lockheed Martin plant in Meridian, Mississippi. On July 8, 2003, he carried out a mass shooting at the plant, targeting co-workers during a mandatory ethics and diversity training session and throughout the facility .
The Shooting Rampage
Williams arrived at the mandatory training session visibly agitated. After only a few minutes, he abruptly left the meeting, saying �Y�all can handle this,� returned armed with multiple firearms and ammunition, and began shooting around 9:30 a.m. .
Armed with a 12-gauge shotgun (used in the shooting), a .223-caliber semiautomatic rifle (not fired), a Derringer, a .45-caliber pistol, and a scoped .22-caliber rifle (found later in his truck), he embarked on a roughly ten-minute killing spree .
