On the evening of August 22, 2018, in Mechanicsville, Virginia, a welfare check at a home on River Valley Road took a tragic turn. Hanover County Sheriff's deputies arrived at the residence at approximately 11:28 p.m. to check on an adult female who had reportedly made threats to harm herself.
