Alfred Werner, male, served as a deputy sheriff with the Crittenden County Sheriff�s Office in Arkansas. On August 6, 1895, near Presley Junction in Crittenden County, he was fatally shot while participating in an attempted arrest at a man�s home. Accounts note that Werner was working alongside two other officers when they reached the residence; as the other officers went inside, Werner remained outside and was struck by gunfire, suffering a fatal wound.
