Samir Burton, a 19-year-old Black male from Philadelphia, was killed on Saturday night, March 4, 2023, in the Tioga-Nicetown area of the city. Police were called around 9:21 p.m. to the 3700 block of North Carlisle Street, the same block where Burton lived, after reports of gunfire inside a residence. When officers arrived, they found him inside the home suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, reported in early coverage as wounds to the upper body.
