In the Mantua neighborhood of Philadelphia on the evening of March 31, 2023, a violent encounter cut short the life of 31-year-old Jefferson Young, a Black male. The incident unfolded just before 7:30 p.m. on the 3500 block of Wallace Street, a residential area that was suddenly shattered by the sound of gunfire.
When officers from the 16th District arrived at the scene, they discovered two men suffering from gunshot wounds. One of them was a 52-year-old man who had been shot in the foot.
