In the early morning hours of a Sunday in April 2023, the quiet of U.S. Route 222 South in Brecknock Township was broken by a grim discovery. The body of a man, later identified as 54-year-old Miguel Vazquez-Ruiz of Baltimore, Maryland, was found on the shoulder of the highway. The location of the discovery was near the Lancaster and Berks County line.
