On September 26, 2024, at approximately 7:30 a.m., Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) officers responded to a welfare check on Eastcrest Drive in east Charlotte, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 25-year-old Khyr� Jamaal Grier deceased in the driver's seat of his tow truck, having suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Grier, employed by Carolina Towing Company LLC, was in the process of repossessing a vehicle when the incident occurred.
