In the early morning hours of June 24, 2023, the life of 21-year-old Jaylon Thomas Smith was tragically cut short in Valdosta, Georgia. Responding to numerous 911 calls about a shooting at approximately 3:09 a.m., Valdosta Police Officers arrived at the 500 block of North St. Augustine Road to find Smith with a gunshot wound. Despite the immediate efforts of Emergency Medical Services, the young African American male was pronounced deceased at the scene.
