Charles A. Williams Jr., a 27-year-old Black man from Omaha, Nebraska, traveled to the I-29 Speedway near Pacific Junction, Iowa, on August 10, 2024, for an evening built around cars, racing and live music. The speedway was hosting a daylong gathering that included a car show and drag-racing activities, followed by an outdoor hip-hop concert featuring Boosie Badazz, Rob49 and Rich the Factor.
