In the spring of 2021, a gathering of teenagers in a quiet backyard in Andalusia, Alabama, took a tragic and irreversible turn. On the morning of April 6th, 17-year-old Layla Rebecca Watson, a Caucasian female, was with three other youths at the home of Brayden Awalt's grandmother. The group, which also included Damien Lashawn Beasley, then 17, and Robert Jones, were spending time together when Awalt introduced a shotgun into the setting.
