On February 18, 1974, White/Caucasian male, Dennis Finbar Cronin, a 31-year-old male Alaska State Trooper, met an informant in Anchorage as part of a drug-enforcement assignment. The meeting took place inside his squad car. In that confined space, without warning, the informant opened fire, striking the 31-year-old male trooper and ending his life in the line of duty. He was the first member of the Alaska State Troopers to be killed while serving.
