Kevin Willis, a 28-year-old Black male from Philadelphia, was killed in the early minutes of Tuesday, August 30, 2016, after gunfire erupted on the 5500 block of Sansom Street in West Philadelphia. Police were called to the block at about 12:04 a.m., where they found Willis badly wounded from multiple gunshots. He had been shot more than once, and the injuries were serious enough that Philadelphia Fire Department medics rushed him to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.
