On the evening of May 14, 2026, tragedy struck at a motel on the east side of Indianapolis when 30-year-old Joshua Thompson was shot. The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. in the 6800 block of East 21st Street, near the intersection of Interstate 70 and Shadeland Avenue. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to a report of a person shot and found Thompson with critical injuries. He was rushed to a local hospital for medical attention.
