Mario Butler, a 44-year-old Black man, was killed after a Sunday morning shooting in Memphis's Frayser area on May 17, 2026. Police were called to the 2100 block of Driftwood Avenue shortly after 10 a.m., where they found Butler suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was still alive when officers arrived, but his condition was critical, and he was rushed to a hospital for emergency treatment. He later died from his injuries.
