On the evening of Valentine's Day in Jacksonville, Illinois, a tragedy unfolded that would cut short the life of 31-year-old Marcquila Harris. Just before 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2026, police received reports of gunshots in the 800 block of West Chambers Street. Arriving at the scene, officers discovered Harris with a life-threatening gunshot wound. She was quickly transported to Jacksonville Memorial Hospital, but her injuries proved fatal, and she died later that evening.
