Devenire Matlock, a 30-year-old Black man from Milwaukee, was killed in the early hours of Friday, November 7, 2025, when gunfire erupted near North 12th Street and West Ring Street in the city�s Borchert Field neighborhood. Around 1 a.m., the quiet of the overnight hours was broken by shots, drawing Milwaukee police and emergency crews to the intersection. Officers found Devenire lying at the scene with fatal gunshot wounds; he never made it to a hospital and was pronounced dead where he fell.
