Jayden McIlwain, a 16-year-old male and Black/African American from Charlotte, North Carolina, died on June 28, 2025. That Saturday evening, first responders were called to the 8800 block of Kirkville Lane in the city�s North Division after a report of an assault with a deadly weapon. When officers arrived around 7:40 p.m., they found Jayden McIlwain with a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene by MEDIC.
