Francisco Paul Flattes II, a 56-year-old male and Black/African American detention officer, was fatally shot on June 30, 2025, in Murphy, North Carolina, during an inmate medical escort. He was taken to Erlanger Western Carolina Hospital�s orthopedics clinic in Murphy when a struggle broke out with the prisoner he was guarding.
