On the evening of September 26, 2025, 25-year-old Jawan Tyree Bates was shot in Cincinnati�s Evanston neighborhood, near Montgomery Road and Brewster Avenue by Xavier University�s campus. He was a Black/African American male. Police were dispatched around 7:20�7:30 p.m. for reports of gunfire, and shortly after, 25-year-old Jawan Tyree Bates arrived at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center by private vehicle, where 25-year-old Jawan Tyree Bates died from his injuries.
