Daesjhon Grayson, a 30-year-old Black/African American man, was shot and killed in Oakland on Mother�s Day, May 11, 2025. Just before midnight, officers were called to the 600 block of 16th Street near Jefferson Street in the Uptown area, where they found him with a fatal gunshot wound. He died at the scene. Earlier that same day, the city had already recorded another homicide, underscoring a violent 24-hour stretch downtown that also included a predawn shooting near the Fox Theater.
