In the early morning hours of Saturday, January 21, 2017, the city of Chester, Pennsylvania, awoke to a grim discovery. A 31-year-old Black male named Nijah Carpenter was found deceased in his red 2002 Nissan Altima. The vehicle was parked partially in the 500 block of East 11th Street and a neighboring field.
