On a Tuesday night in Philadelphia, the 2100 block of Marston Terrace was disturbed by the sound of gunfire. It was September 21, 2021, and just before 11:30 p.m., police were called to the scene where they found 27-year-old Ishmael Goodwin lying in the street. The young Black male had been shot multiple times. He was rushed to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he died later that night.
The violence of that evening also left another person wounded.
